Welcome to the new Futuro Perfecto's blog section, where we highlight the incredible team members working diligently to support the innovation and growth of our clients. These interviews will be a kick off a series of questions to get to know the people behind our operations and explore their perspectives on the European funding sector.
Collin´s is our HR manager, he’s originally from Houston, Texas, where he was born and raised. He moved to Madrid 4 years ago, but before that he had already spent time there during his university years.
Two things no one knows about Collins are that he’s a huge believer in ghosts and aliens” People who doubt they exist are not paying attention”. And he really wants to learn Catalán, “imagine a guy from Texas speaking fluent Catálan”
Now lets deep in his professional life:
1. How long have you been with our company, and what brought you here?
10 months. I got recruited via IE Business School. It’s great now because, as HR manager, now I am the one recruiting out of IE.
2. Can you describe your role and responsibilities as the Head of Human Resources?
Besides recruiting candidates, I deal with our organizational behaviour matters. I also manage our interns during their first weeks at the company.
I regularly speak with everyone to find out their working circumstances and how their personal lives intersect with our daily functions. I try to be an intermediary between the needs of the team and those of our individual team members. I also help with general administrative matters and event planning.
3. What is the most rewarding part of your job?
We have 10+ international interns right now. I organized the internships and recruited almost all our interns. They spend their initial month(s) in Madrid for training before moving abroad. Whenever our interns finally make it to their destination countries and all the months of preparation and later training is complete, that feels amazing.
4. What strategies do you use to maintain a positive work culture?
Every day when I come to work, I check on everyone and make sure I announce myself with an enthusiastic “Helloooo.”
I also try to regularly say to people positive and warm comments like “you’re doing amazing.” Even if it’s not exactly relevant to the conversation - I like to make people smile.
